I've never seen docks moored out by themselves. What a novel idea. Something to think about.....

Yeah, the city owns the harbor, and they decided that they can get twice as many boats paying fees if they used helix screws to moor 20-foot sections of dock, then have two boats tie up to them. At the same time they tripled the mooring permit rates. I think it's $25 a foot for mooring space now.

Of course, compared to what I pay for the slip, that's chump change.
