Thursday 5/27
We had another good race this week. And I had more crew, which made my life much easier.
Right after a good start, we're off in the SE breeze toward Pond Point.
The course was basically a reach all the way. We were slow to reach our speed in the ~10 kts. breeze, but when we did we started passing boats.
Lee did a phenomenal job as our trimmer, and he kept us moving all through the course, which was PEWS.
Post race, Janel, Derek and Joyce enjoy the sunset.
That's the sunset there.
First Thursday Night Race!
The boat went in the morning of the 20th, and I got it fully rigged by myself in time for first warning.
The crew was just Janel and myself. We were shorthanded but not daunted, as there was enough breeze for us to fly the No. 2 jib and make each tack about a million per cent easier!
Running leeward of Spirit after a really good start.
Heeling just enough to know that there's some breeze, but no so much that we got knocked around uncomfortably with just us two racing the boat.
About a dozen boats started in a single class. Great windward/leeward course by the Race Committee, who did an outstanding job!
Sailing Season Begins!
The boat went in May 20th. I now declare the 2010 sailing season underway!
"Starboard!"

Great party to kick off the sailing season for 2010!
Vern and Sheila are joined by Linda right before the band started playing.
Teri and Joyce mugging it up for the camera.
The "C-Dock" band, comprised of several WSC members, rocked the house!
Teri and Janel digging on the tunes. Looks like Janel is enjoying a
"Dark 'n Stormy", too!
B3 and John C. are shredding the shit outta that song!
As I said, great party. Thanks to the Windjammers officers and volunteers who put it on, and to Milford Yacht Club for hosting the event!
